Weekend Preview: 25th/26th January

It’s set to be a busy couple of days for your Rockets with seven fixtures scheduled over the course of the weekend.

First Teams

Our men’s first team are in action twice this weekend – the first of which is a visit to Milton Keynes to take on the Breakers tomorrow at 5pm.

Coach Smith’s team are back in action just over 24 hours later as they face Nottingham Hoods at Utilita Arena Birmingham in a 6pm tip. (Please note: tickets are no longer available for this fixture).

The team will be out to avenge our December home defeat to MK before looking for a repeat of the reverse fixture against Nottingham when Rockets recorded a dominant 100-73 win in the East Midlands.

Our women’s first team are also back in action on Sunday after a six-week break as they travel to Nottingham looking to do the league double over the Wildcats.

Coach Allen’s team ran out 61-49 winners in the reverse fixture and will be looking to keep pace with the league leaders against the 2-6 Wildcats.

Under 16 Boys

Manchester Giants are the visitors to Nechells in the other early game on Saturday afternoon.

Giants are currently top of the league with an 11-3 record, with Rockets looking to continue their push for a playoff place.

Coach Tavares’ side sit seventh in the Northern Premier division, but with a number of games in hand on the teams around them, it is still all to play for in the playoff race!

Under 14 Girls

Rockets Under 14 Girls are away in Sheffield to take on the Hatters in a 2pm tip on Sunday.

Coach Mahamud’s team will be looking to complete the league double over the Hatters up in Yorkshire and will be full of confidence after a 79-33 demolition of Stockport two weeks ago.

The team will be looking to continue their fantastic campaign which has seen them record a 6-2 record in the Northern Premier division – a record that sees the team in second place in the standings.

Under 16 Girls

Rockets Under 16 Girls are also on the road on Sunday away at Newcastle Eagles in a 2pm tip.

Coach Clark’s side make the long journey to the north east for what is sure to be a tightly contested midtable matchup.

Newcastle edged the reverse fixture 74-73 back in October – the team will be highly motivated to avenge that tough loss come Sunday afternoon!
