Weekend Preview: 1st/2nd February

There are six Rockets fixtures scheduled in another bumper weekend of action!

First Teams

Both our Rockets first teams play at home tomorrow in our first doubleheader evening of 2025!

Rockets women are up first at 5pm against local rivals Bromsgrove Bears with Coach Clive Allen’s side looking to start 2025 in the best way possible as the team continues their promotion push.

Rockets men then take centre stage with the table-topping Hemel Storm in town for what is sure to be an enthralling encounter at 7:30pm.

Rockets battled incredibly hard in the reverse fixture, and with the added motivation to return to winning ways after last weekend’s one-point defeat, you can be sure your Rockets will be leaving everything out there come game time!

Under 14 Boys

Rockets Under 14 Boys will be looking to record a third consecutive win in tomorrow’s early game against St Helens Saints at Nechells Wellbeing Centre.

Coach Gaskell’s team have enjoyed a fantastic season and are sitting third in the Northern Premier division heading into game week 15.

The team will take confidence from their 119-33 victory in the reverse fixture, but the coaching staff sure to be on guard against complacency as the team continue their playoff push.

Under 18 Men

It’s a big weekend for our Under 18 Men who will be looking to record an important win in their quest to climb the Western Premier standings.

Bracknell are the visitors to Nechells Wellbeing Centre tomorrow in a 2:20pm tip.

The Berkshire-based side currently hold the worst defensive record in the division with Coach D’Alva and his team looking to take advantage of that fact as the team look to bounce back to winning ways.

Under 16 Girls

Our Under 16 Girls will be looking to push on against Derbyshire Arrows on Sunday in a tight Northern Premier division.

A couple of wins could see Coach Clark’s side rocket up the table and the team will believe they have the talent in their ranks to compete with the sides around them after a couple of tough outings against some of the division’s more established programmes in Manchester and Sheffield.

Our hosts Derby understand just how tough those assignments can be in this league after falling to a 69-point loss against the Mystics last weekend.

Rockets will be eager to pile the misery on our hosts this weekend as the team look to cement their place in the division.

Under 16 Boys

Rockets Under 16 Boys will be motivated to avenge their defeat in the reverse fixture as the team travel north to take on Mersey Mavericks on Sunday afternoon.

A final quarter comeback saw the Mavericks take the win in a dramatic game at Nechells Wellbeing Centre back in October.

With the business end of the season fast approaching and the team looking to earn a playoff berth come the end of the season, Coach Tavares and his team know there is little margin for error against their fellow playoff hopefulls…
