During the past 5 weeks we have delivered the Canon Respect Schools Project which culminated in us hosting Primary and Secondary Tournaments at Nechells Wellbeing Centre over the past two days.
This rounded off the Canon Respect Project, which was run in conjunction with B. Braun Sheffield Sharks and Canon Medical Systems Europe.
The project saw us deliver free basketball sessions and social impact workshops at 20 schools across the city – with each participating school also receiving free basketballs, water bottles and kits to ensure lasting legacy of the project long after its completion.
The project and events were extremely well received, with the children enjoying playing at the Rockets Arena, Nechells Wellbeing Centre, to compete in 3×3 tournaments to celebrate the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Chris Perrin, Head of PE at St George’s School, said: “Students loved all aspects and it felt like a ‘big’ competition with referees, scoreboards and music alongside the really generous kit. Thanks again for a lovely day!”
The foundation of our club has always been about our community and we are thankful to be part of a project which has allowed us to engage with so many young people.
