Sporting events were delayed up and down the country over the weekend due to COVID-19 outbreaks, with a number of our junior games being called off as a result.
Not only were both our home games over postponed, with both our Under-14 Boys Conference and Under-18 Boys games to be now played in the new year, but our Under-18 Girls match against Lancashire Spinners was also unable to be played.
This meant the only game of the weekend for our juniors was our Under-16 Girls taking on Derby Trailblazers at Broomfield Hall.
Trailblazers rushed into an early lead, leading 22-11 at the end of the first quarter.
However, a strong Rockets fightback, including scoring 24 points in the third quarter, meant the game was on a knife-edge right up to the end.
Ultimately, Rockets succumbed by just two points to Trailblazers, losing 61-59 in a game where they might have claimed all the points if not for that first quarter.
That’s all for this year, with fixtures back on the weekend of the eighth of January, including our Under-18 Women at home to Leeds and our Under-16 Boys away at Northamptonshire Titans.
