Our Women’s First Team make the short trip to Colmers School and Sixth Form to take on Bromsgrove Bears this evening in their final fixture of 2021, tip-off at 19:00.
Coach Peter Mintoft is able to field a near full-strength team, with top-scorer Michelle Turner returning to the side in a boost to their hopes of finding a first win this season.
However, Antoinette Torgbi and Marite Vane are out this week, both of who will be missed and were instrumental in our third quarter comeback in Manchester two weeks ago.
The Opposition
Bromsgrove Bears sit fifth in the table, knowing a win today would pull them out of mid-table and into strong contention for a play-off place.
Bears are also on a good run of form, having beaten Team Birmingham Elite by 15 points on Sunday, while also thrashing Tees Valley Mohawks four weeks ago.
However, both of these victories came either side of a heavy defeat to table-topping Stockport Lapwings which dented Bromsgrove’s promotion hopes.
Around The League
Stockport Lapwings suffered their first defeat of the season as they lost 72-57 away to Derby Trailblazers, however Lapwings still remain in top spot.
Elsewhere, there were wins for Sheffield Hatters and Manchester Mystics who defeated Derbyshire Diamonds and Tees Valley Mohawks, respectively.
Diamonds suffered their second defeat in two days when they lost to University of Nottingham Wildcats on Sunday, a defeat that sees them drop to seventh in the table.
