Birmingham Rockets are delighted to confirm the return of guard Jordan Dawes ahead of the 2024/25 National Basketball League (NBL) Division One season.
Dawes is entering into his fourth year as a Birmingham Rocket after re-joining the club in the summer of 2021.
One of our own…
Jordan joined Rockets at the age of 14 and progressed through the youth ranks before moving stateside to attend the Sportsquest Academy in Richmond, Virginia.
Upon returning to the UK, Jordan attended Loughborough University where he would go on to represent Loughborough Riders and British Basketball League side Leicester Riders.
He would go on to play for Worcester Wolves and Birmingham Knights in the British Basketball League before representing UK Armed Forces Basketball as part of his position as a Lance Corporal in the Royal Marines.
Since returning to Rockets, Jordan has enjoyed a number of memorable moments. From two near-identical buzzer beaters to sink former club Worcester Wolves on two separate occasions to coaching the NBL Division Two Playoff Final win over St Helens Saints, Jordan’s passion for and commitment to Rockets is beyond question; and we look forward to more special moments in the year ahead!
“I’m always grateful to represent my childhood club”
After progressing through the ranks at Rockets as a youngster, Jordan’s affiliation to the club runs deep and he is looking forward to continuing to raise the profile of the sport in the city of Birmingham and beyond in 2024/25.
“I’m always grateful to represent my childhood club,” he said.
“I’m excited to continue our journey and bring this cities basketball to new heights.
“The show must go on, we are bringing the more than a club motto to life and I will always be ecstatic to represent that to the cities youth!”
“Jordan wears his heart on his sleeve”
Rockets CEO, and Jordan’s former coach, Robert Palmer, is equally excited about the prospect of Jordan’s return.
He said, “Jordan wears his heart on his sleeve and demonstrates pride and passion every time he pulls on the Rockets vest.
“As a player that came through our junior programme, it has been wonderful to see him rise through the ranks and become an important part of our men’s roster during the past three seasons!”
Men’s first team Head Coach Charles Smith is also looking forward to the season ahead after working with Jordan since his arrival last month.
“Jordan will bring leadership and experience and is someone that prides himself in playing defence.
“Those are attributes that I look for in players and why I decided to resign him.”
Get behind the Rockets this season!
We are delighted to welcome Jordan back to Rockets for a fourth season and we look forward to seeing him back out on the court in 2024/25!
