Game Preview
Birmingham Rockets’ men’s first team make the short journey to Derbyshire to take on the title-chasing Derby Trailblazers this Saturday in a crucial game in the context of the NBL Division One season.
Rockets currently sit ninth in the league standings, one win and one position off the final playoff spot which is currenly occupied by the Nottingham Hoods.
Due to our superior head-to-head record against the Hoods, Rockets would leapfrog them and claim the final playoff spot should Nottingham fail to beat Worthing Thunder on the south coast (also Saturday at 7:30pm) with a victory against Derby.
Derby, meanwhile, currently sit in second place in the league standings – although our hosts will move to the top of the table with a win due to their superior head-to-head record against the current league leading Essex Rebels.
Derby have played a game fewer than Essex, meaning they will secure the league title with victory against Rockets and Bradford Dragons ( they play against Derby on Sunday).
Last Time Out
Rockets breezed past a tame Worthing Thunder in our last game, running out comfortable winners in a 85-61 rout at Nechells Wellbeing Centre last Saturday to ensure the team go into this final regular season game full of confidence.

Derby, conversely, lost their last league game 102-94 away at the Reading Rockets last Saturday.
The reverse fixture back in January saw us start well as we took a 46-44 lead into halftime, but Derby’s class shone through in the second half as they ran out 101-72 winners on the night.
