The EABL season has reached its midway point – catch up on the progress of our Rockets Academy at BMet with our midseason report!
Rockets have one of the youngest rosters in the division, but have demonstrated an ability to be competitive in the country’s highest level of college basketball with their continual development evident to see as the season has progressed.
This is demonstrated by the recognition of three players; Miles Moore, Suwayd Francis and Nektarios Papadopoulos, in the EABL midseason stat leader charts.
Francis leads the EABL in steals with 3.7 per game in his six outings so far, while Moore has been recognised as one of the competitions leading scorers as a result of his 18.8 PPG average.
Papadopoulos’ 0.7 blocks per game also saw him recognised as one of the league leaders.
The team’s maiden win came against Sheffield College last month and they are motivated to continue to build and develop in the new year.
Academy Head Coach, Paul Douglas, is optimistic for the second half of the season having seeing the team evolve in the first few months of the campaign.
“It has been a baptism of fire for this young group so far but it’s very pleasing to see some individual recognition for Nektarios, Miles and Suwayd in the latest round of EABL stats.
“Most of the teams have a big selection of third year players while we only have 3. But in spite of that I am happy with our progress and I feel that the group have a lot more confidence going into the second half of the season.
“We have been very competitive and the players have a lot more belief in their abilities as a result of these performances.
“There is definitely more to come from the squad for sure!
“Our first open day for next year’s intake will be announced shortly for January, so please check social media notifications for more information.”
