City of Birmingham Rockets are pleased to have been awarded the ‘Best Game Day Experience’ at the NBL Division Two Awards.
A lot of work has gone into elevating our game day offering off the court and as such we are delighted that these efforts have been recognised by our fellow clubs.
The renovation of our show court at Nechells Wellbeing Centre as part of the 2K Foundations project, alongside the implementation of our Rockets cafe, club merchandise stalls and resident DJ Tariq Malik of Fly Entertainment, represent our commitment to providing fans with the best possible experience.
The addition of bleacher seating has also helped us to accommodate more fans – with the energy and passion that they have provided this season undoubtedly contributing to this award.
We would also like to thank our dedicated and hardworking volunteers whose contributions have elevated our gameday offering.
Bobby Mushtaq, David Earls, Dean Treasure, Dene Meade, Justine Taylor, Martin Lansley, Morgan Dawes, Owen Lamprey, Shaiza Mughal, Sonia Armstrong, Susan Walton, Zahida Gaibee and their families have provided invaluable contributions in the 2021/22 season and everyone associated with Rockets would like to thank them and anyone else who has helped make our Rockets game days so special.
Chair of the Board, Kirk Dawes, said: “This is our first season in the revamped Nechells facility courtesy of 2K Foundations and I am so grateful for the work from Rob and Tom together with all the volunteers.
“Our fantastic matchday team have worked incredibly hard this season and we hope to continue to improve with each game going forward.
“We are truly honoured to receive this award and it is testament to the teams we have played against this season that they feel that we have put on a show that was about more than just basketball.”
Thank you to Basketball England, the NBL and our fellow clubs for this award.
