Our Women’s First Team take on Nottingham University Wildcats tomorrow as we look for our first win of the season so far.
Coach Peter Mintoft’s side are bolstered by a host of new additions since our last home outing, and the team will be looking to push on with this greater level of squad depth.
Our women were unlucky last week in Manchester, as they fell to a defeat when ultimately it looked in the third quarter like Rockets could walk out with the points.
Without top scorer Michelle Turner and defensive stalwart Milly Harrison, Rockets were nonetheless impressive, with Enke Pashaj leading a third-quarter comeback which saw us score 21 points in ten minutes and trail by only a single point.
Rockets will hope to repeat the performance of that quarter, as they played superb defence, restricting the second-placed team in the league to just nine points in ten minutes.
They will also be boosted by the new signing of Sandra Hewakowska from Gloucester Queens, who will add another point-scoring presence to the team.
The Opposition
Nottingham University Wildcats sit fourth in the division with three wins and two defeats so far.
Their last game was nearly a month ago, on November 7th, as they took on Manchester Mystics, our opponents last week. They ran out winners, claiming victory by 67 points to 47 in a game they led throughout.
