This past weekend we were pleased to be able to welcome around 80 players from our Junior Performance Programmes to a special pre-season weekend at Nechells Wellbeing Centre.
The boys and girls, who are going to represent the Rockets under 14, 16 and 18 squads during the upcoming season, were able to enhance their skills through a variety of training exercises both on and off the court for a total of ten hours over the course of the weekend.
This included strength and conditioning sessions, individual and team offensive and defensive principles and video analysis. They were also given the opportunity to take part in sport psychology activities such as setting personal aspirations for the coming season in line with the Club’s culture and ethos.
Managing Director Robert Palmer said: “Our annual pre-season training events provide one of the most important opportunities of the year to prepare our club players and coaches for the long season ahead.
“This weekend was both motivational and inspirational due to the energy and effort that both players and coaches put in to ensure they will be able to perform at a high level within their own teams this year.
“We are looking forward to an exciting season ahead including the ongoing development and progress of our players, coaches and performance teams.”
The weekend was a fantastic opportunity for both players and coaches to familiarise themselves with each other ahead of the upcoming season and we look forward to seeing the results when their seasons begin at the start of October.
