Welcome back to Rockets, Zack Powell!
‘The General’ returns to the club at which he learnt his trade as a youngster as part of our Under 16 junior team.
Zack has earned a reputation as one of the most entertaining players to watch in Division One in recent seasons, with his speed and athleticism sure to be a great asset to Coach Smith’s roster this campaign.
Born in Jamaica, Zack moved to Birmingham at the age of three and would go on to turn professional at just 19, signing for the Manchester Giants in the former British Basketball League (BBL).
After spending two years in Manchester, Zack departed for Ireland in the summer of 2021 to join up with the EJ Sligo All Stars.
He would enjoy a productive year in the Emerald Isle, helping Sligo gain promotion to the First Division after winning the National League.
Zack has spent the last two seasons with Reading Rockets and was a key part of the team that reached the National Cup final and the Division One Playoff final last season – losing out narrowly on both occasions to Milton Keynes and Hemel Storm respectively.
‘The General’ recorded 10 points-per-game and 5.5 rebounds-per-game last season and we are looking forward to seeing his unique skillset in action this season.
Speaking ahead of his return, Zack said, “I am excited to start the season and continue to gel and grow with the guys.
“We have great people on board including enthusiastic staff which makes everything that much easier and fun!”
Welcome back, Zack!
