City of Birmingham Rockets can confirm that Siggy Hoar has announced his intention to retire from basketball and will be leaving our men’s first team with immediate effect.
Siggy wrote his name into Birmingham basketball folklore last season as part of our historic promotion and playoff finals winning side.
Rockets CEO, Robert Palmer, spoke of the impact Siggy has had on the club since joining us in the summer of 2022.
“I’d like to express sincere thanks to Siggy on behalf of the Rockets organisation.
“He sacrificed and committed so much during our promotion winning season last year and has been a much loved member of the playing squad during that time.
“Perhaps most importantly, Siggy has demonstrated on many occasions that he is a fine and selfless human being, giving unconditionally to his team mates and all around him.
“We understand Siggy’s reasons for calling time on his playing career and fully support his decision.“
Siggy will always be welcome back at the club and will forever be a part of our Rockets family.
