There were a number of big wins for Rockets across the weekend and as we approach the business end of the season a number of our teams look well placed in their respective divisions.
Our Under 16 Girls team continued their title charge with a crucial 73-43 victory at Bromsgrove on Sunday morning.
Another strong performance from Coach Evans’ side sees the team remain at the league summit with just three games left to play.
Elsewhere on Sunday, our Under 18 Women’s side clinched a playoff spot with a 59-52 win at Nottingham.
A strong defensive display saw Coach Elfrey’s side close out the game as the team continue to impress at their first season at this level after last year’s promotion.
In a weekend defined by away successes, our Men’s First Team also got an all-important win in Leicester to maintain their unbeaten season and move to 17 wins and 0 losses to strengthen their position at the top of Division Two.
A stubborn Leicester Warriors side took the team to overtime before our Rockets pulled away; with every team in the division eager to be the one to halt our impressive unbeaten streak.
Elsewhere on Saturday, a strong fourth quarter saw our Under 14 Boys Premier side overcome York Eagles to leapfrog them in the table and move up to third place in the standings.
The result sees Coach Tavares’ return to winning ways and keeps the team in pole position to land a playoff place come the end of the season.
Tipping off at the same time were our Under 16 Boys Premier side, who also recorded a crucial 60-57home victory against Derby Trialblazers as they continue their fantastic season and retain their place at the top of the league standings.
The final three games on Saturday saw our Under 18 Men’s teams and Under 12 Mixed side suffer defeats in three tough games.
Coach Ricardo D’Alva’s U18s fell to a 10-point loss at London United without top scorer Miles Moore while our U12 side lost out 63-28 at Leicester Riders Foundation.
Coach Dudley’s U18 Conference side also feel to a 71-46 defeat at home to St Peter’s Slam at Nechells Wellbeing Centre.
On Sunday, a tough start to the game for Coach Gaskell’s U14 Conference side eventually saw the team fall 87-37 at Tamworth Tigers.
