The Rockets Academy at BMet fell to a 68-94 defeat against a strong SGS College side at Nechells Wellbeing Centre on Wednesday afternoon.
Despite the result, there are plenty of positives for the coaching staff to take from a spirited performance against a strong side.
Our visitors started on the front foot, coming out of the traps quickly to establish a 31-19 first quarter lead.
The second continued in much the same way, with SGS hitting a barrage of threes to consolidate their control of the game.
Rockets came out with a point to prove in the third, with a strong Rockets spell courtesy of tighter defence and more efficient offensive sets seeing us reduce the deficit.
Rockets won the third quarter 25-16, with a strong period seeing us nullify SGS for large periods.
Coach Douglas’ side were unable to retain the momentum at the start of the fourth, with a more even period of play seeing both sides struggle to find a consistent rhythm on the offensive end.
The returning Miles Moore had the highlight play of the game late in the fourth, intercepting a pass as the lone defender before taking the ball to the other end and converting well under pressure.
