The Rockets Academy at BMet suffered a 39-89 defeat at the hands of Myerscough College at Nechells Wellbeing Centre on Wednesday afternoon.
Rockets were without top scorer Miles Moore for the game and his scoring was missed as Rockets struggled to get into a consistent offensive rhythm.
The game started on an even footing, with Rockets and Myerscough tied at six each before our visitors began to impose their presence on proceedings.
The northerners pulled away with devastating effect to end the first, seing them take a 24-13 lead into the first quarter break.
They came out in the second with a similar intensity – hitting Rockets with a barrage of efficient attacks which Coach Douglas’ side were unable to stop or replicate on the other end.
It was always going to be a tough game with Myerscough outlining their credentials as one of the division’s top sides with their strong start to the season.
A young Rockets side fought valiantly to try and reduce the deficit as the game wore on but Myerscough were reluctant to let complacency set in and maintained their standards throughout.
The BMet Rockets Academy are back in action at Nechells Wellbeing Centre next week against SGS College.
